A pattern or a design is essential to do embroidery as your best embroidery machine, and it’s a bit tricky as well. Everyone faces some hurdles while transferring the design and every embroiderer learns things and does new experiences.
When you start your task, you have to be careful about material matching especially be cautious about the fabric. You have to choose a way to transferring the pattern according to your fabric type.
There are different ways to transfer a pattern onto the fabric. Every method is helpful and unique. Which method you use and like most it’s up to you.
We have five good enough ways to transfer a pattern which we are describing below.
Heat Transfer Pens
You can use heat transfer pens or pencils to transfer a pattern. But remember one thing the ink of heat transfer pens is prominent, so ensure that you cover it with embroidery when you embroider with your best embroidery machine.
Draw a pattern on paper with a heat transfer pen and transfer it on fabric, but you have to draw a reverse design because you have to place it on fabric in a mirror way.
After drawing a pattern, place it on fabric and then iron it. After completing a process, check your design on fabric; it looks great, by the way.
Most people avoid this method due to its prominent ink. You can use this method by following tips like being focused while working and using sharp nib pencils or pens. Always use a good quality pen to avoid any disaster. There are many online stores where you can buy the product, go to any store’s web page and buy it.
Pouncing
If we talk about pouncing so, it’s an old method but still is in use. Much tradition’s embroiderer uses this method and you can easily find the supplies related to this method.
In this method, you use a paper with a design of hole work, you have to place the paper on fabric and use powder color but make sure that your color will go away with washing.
Spread the color on paper and then lift up the paper, now you can see that your design has transferred to the fabric.
LightBox Method
Lightbox is another effective method and easy to use. There are readily available lightboxes in markets and reasonable as well. You can also buy from online stores; many websites that do some research and get your lightbox.
But if you can’t afford at this beginning stage, don’t worry about it. There are many lightbox alternatives like you can use your window in sunlight as a lightbox, or use the screen of your computer for this purpose even your tablet can be the lightbox.
Transferring pattern to fabric is relatively easy; place your paper on the lightbox, then put the fabric on it and start tracing. Use a water-soluble pen because it will go away after washing.
Carbon Paper
Transferring the pattern with carbon paper is the easiest way and recommend, but make sure that you use dressmaker’s carbon paper, not ordinary carbon paper which mainly uses in office work because it’s ink is not washable.
You can buy it from anywhere, but online stores will be a great option; check any website for it.
For transferring the pattern first, select a hard surface, put your fabric on it, place the carbon paper on it, place the pattern paper on it and trace it with any hard and sharp object. You can use a ballpoint pen as well. Ensure to fix carbon paper and pattern; they should not move because your design can be double on fabric and can destroy your project.
After completing the process lift up carbon paper and pattern and check the fabric if there everything is ok takes the embroidery hoop, hoop your fabric, then go towards your best embroidery machine and start embroidery.
Water Soluble Stabilizer
It’s a bit difficult to transfer a detailed design so, if you have a detailed design, then a water-soluble stabilizer is a perfect option for you.
Print the design directly on to water-soluble stabilizer then place it on fabric then embroider it with the excellent embroidery machine.
After finishing your work, wash the fabric the stabilizer will go away.
