The things that you need are:

  • Screwdriver
  • Clean cloth
  • Sewing machine oil

The steps that you need to follow are:

Step 1:

Disconnect the machine from the power source.

Step 2:

Remove the screws that secure the needle plate to the sewing machine. If the screwdriver is too large to stand upright on the needle plate without hitting another part of the machine, use a penny to loosen the screws. Lift the plate. Open the face plate covering the bobbin case.

Step 3:

Place two to three drops of sewing machine oil on the mechanism directly below the needle; the needle passes through this mechanism through the bobbin case. Place two to three additional drops of oil on the mat, the mechanism under the bobbin case.

Step 4:

Loosen the screw that secures the cover on the side of the machine that protects the thread guides and the thread take-up lever. Turn the handwheel on the opposite side of the machine to observe how these parts move. Place two to three drops of oil on the shaft that moves up and down, as well as any other visible moving parts.

Step 5:

Replace the removing parts

That’s all, with no line on the machine, run the machine at high speed for about a minute. Wipe off any excess oil. Thread the machine and sew a piece of material to ensure that no drops of oil remain

Conclusion:

Oiling is very crucial for maintaining the overall performance of machines. Before oiling turn off your Brother sewing machine and clean it, and remove the fabric threads and lint before it. Also, take it to a technician at least once a year to have it checked and repaired. It will improve the overall performance and also increase the life of your sewing machine.
